GARNET
Garnet is a versatile, effective, and cost-effective abrasive material with many uses which makes it one of the very best abrasive options for many blast shop operations. It is a non-ferrous, 100% natural, inert mineral containing less than 1% free silica. As a result, garnet abrasives pose little to no health or environmental risks.
Garnet abrasive conditions and finishes a wide range of materials. It helps make surfaces cleaner, smoother, softer, rougher or etched when applied with a high-pressure blasting system. Garnet abrasives are harder, heavier and more durable than other blasting abrasives – cut faster and recycle efficiently, significantly increasing productivity while reducing consumption of the abrasive media as well as the costs to handle it, collect it and dispose of it.
Garnet has many types of applications and uses including water jet cutting, blast cleaning, polishing and lapping, fiberglass repairs, restoration projects, concrete etching, deburring, and more. Our Almandine (Hard Rock) Garnet has sharp, angular edges that allow for exceptional cutting and cleaning.
Advantages to using Garnet include:
- Very low dust generation
- High bulk density, meaning more weight per cubic meter than other abrasives.
- Recyclable up to 5+ times
- < .5% Free Silica
- Extremely hard (7-8 MOH Hardness) blast abrasive
- Environmentally friendly to both the users and the environment
